Sony’s mid-range 4G Xperia M2 smartphone
Originally touted for a gradual rollout starting last month, not a lot has been heard from the device since Barcelona back in February, though it seems it has started creeping into some markets. For UK dwellers, the Sony Xperia M2 will be available SIM-free from tomorrow for £239.99 on Amazon, though EE has has just announced it’s making the 4G device on a myriad of plans from today, starting at £19.99 up front on an £18.99/pm deal which includes 500MB of data.
Available in black, purple or white, the handset comes with a 4.8-inch qHD display (960×450 pixels) and an 8MP camera capable of shooting full HD (1080p) video. It’s 8.6mm thin and weighs 148 grams, sporting an industrial design similar to the Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet, which Sony also unveiled at MWC.
The smartphone will likely compete in a new category defined by the 4G Moto G announced on Tuesday – mid-range specs with a price creeping in at the affordable end of the scale.
